Based on the Intel 8008 microprocessor, the Micral is without doubt one of the earliest industrial, non-equipment personal computers. Designer Thi Truong developed the computer whereas Philippe Kahn wrote the software program. Truong, founder and president of the French firm R2E, created the Micral as a substitute for minicomputers in conditions that didn’t require excessive efficiency, comparable to process management and freeway toll collection.
